The area is a paradise for everything on wheels, too. Be it the two (motorized or not) or four wheeled kind. The roads are scenic and twisty, and traffic is moderate.
As most of the lanes are narrow, and some turns are very tricky, motorcyclists are being warned to ride with caution. (Danger of crashing).
One also gets some historic infusion. Typical 'drive-by' ruins such as All-Saints Abbey, which was destroyed by lightning and fire.
Every so often the forest gives way to breathtaking vistas. We can't get enough of it and would love to return on two wheels (Scooters preferred, says Roland).
Another victim of time: Castle Hohengeroldseck
The previous owners must have had a nice view, though.
Not for people suffering from vertigo.
Another room with a view (where we spent the night).
At Titisee / Neustadt
Definitely my kind of roads, definitely...
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful area for exploring, can't wait to see you two riding as we all learn more about Germany.
I can't wait either. Hope to be back on two wheels soon.
DeleteJust beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSomeone told me that there are parts of Germany that are like the flat lands of the Midwest, fields or no fields, just flat. Where would that be?
Yep, Martha, that would be Northern Germany for example. I will post some pics when I get there...
DeleteGorgeous! I bet you can't wait to return to roads like that on two wheels. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, Kathy you can bet on it.
DeleteYou two seem to be getting out and seeing the sights.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all the pictures. I really like the black and white one. Makes the castle ruins look even older, if that is possible.
Thanks, Brandy. I am glad that you seem to enjoy our pics. I am happy to share.
DeleteThese photos remind us of our homeland Erzgebirge. Very similar and very pretty.
ReplyDeleteCool old castles. We don't have anything like that in NA.
ReplyDeleteMartha and I got ourselves a Cuckoo clock (how cliche, I know) while visiting Der Schwartz Wald....we still have it, though it no longer works...something about rug rats yanking on the chains repeatedly I think!
ReplyDeleteNice pics Sonja....thanks
dom
I have always wanted to visit Germany. My great grandparents (German) were from Alsace-Lorraine. I don't know much about it, but I have been told it was sometimes German occupied and sometimes French occupied. Someday I will have to read up on the history of it.
