We ought to play the Lottery!

To meet people at a busy travel hub such as an airport is nothing unheard of. We were just about to leave Scotland (more about the journey coming with the next installments), when a stranger came up to Sonja and asked her if she was SonjaM. Sonja found familiarity in his face but the penny didn't drop until he introduced himself as Nikos.
Here they are: Two bloggers bumping into each other in Edinburgh! And more so, traveling in the same direction, and having seats booked next to each other... What are the odds of that? It will likely remain one of those great mysteries in life.
Sonja meets Nikos, the grand master of meatballs.

Back in Germany we got to the opportunity to say hi to Mrs Nikos as well and spontaneously decided to spend a lovely evening together at a nearby Chinese restaurant. We had a lot of fun chatting the night away, and hope to meet again... most likely at another airport?

Here's Nikos' view on this cosmic event.

    1. You might be right about that. Maybe we really should have bought a lottery ticket.

  2. what a nice coincidence ;-). Maybe playing Lotto really seams to be a good idea. Love your travel reports and became a little bit homesick while seeing all the old buildings, castles etc.

    enjoy your weekend!

    1. I understand the 'getting homesick' to Europe. So rich in culture, so long ignored by us. Now we have an opportunity to make it up.

  3. What is also strange is the circumstances behind me flying from Manchester to Somewhere near Düsseldorf via Edinburgh....

    1. We still wonder what drove you to do this, Nikos... but we are very glad it happened.

  4. Not sure about that Bob, it might actually be that Nikos identified Roland first as he is more often prominent in the pictures.

  5. You'd have had trouble making this happen even if planned!

  6. Well that is just all kinds of awesome. Serendipity is my guess.

So now I am really jealous, not only that you travelled to Scotland, but met Nikos and Mrs. N too. You really do need to buy that lottery ticket.

    1. We might have used up all our odds by meeting Nikos. So I guess I just keep the few bucks left from traveling where they are...

Don't be jealous please, there will be a time when you will make the trip...

  7. I know it is a cliche about how small the world is becoming, but this is definitely proof of just why it has become a cliche. Simply amazing. Just amazing.
