The Isle of Wings (or Clouds? Translation is a bit fuzzy on this)

June 17: We left the B&B that was home for the last three days to continue our journey. The day started grey and when we arrived at the famous Loch Ness we were completely unimpressed. We drove into the huge parking lot where busses were spilling out their loads of travelers. High shrubs and trees prevent onlookers of getting a nice view, and you will have to pay big bucks to get to see the ruins. It definitely had 'tourist trap' plastered all over the place.
We decided to walk a bit uphills, made our trophy shot and moved on. There must have been a speck on the lens. We haven't seen the monster...

Today's program would offer us another highlight of the Highlands: The Isle of Skye, the largest island of the Inner Hebrides, before we would get to our next overnighter in Fort William.

Eilean Donan Castle was built in the 13th century on a small island in Loch Duich, and connected to the mainland by a footbridge.
Think of the cult movie Highlander.
There can only be one!
One could probably spend a full day on location and just watch the light change. No surprise that it is likely one of the most photographed motives in Scotland.

Again the ever changing scenery was captivating our full attention. Ok, you could say, what's with that? Just another river, another lake, another bunch of mountains or ocean vistas. But each one was special to us and we took tons of pictures. So we hope you just lay back and enjoy the view  ;-)
Sligachan Bridge
Kilt Rock Waterfall
Shortly after arrival at our new 'home' for the next two days, the Fassfern Guesthouse, you could find somebody sipping at a glas of Rose, and nibbling away a salami sandwich while enjoying the sunset.
Another great day in Scotland. Who said it would rain all summer? All we got so far was a bit drizzle.

    1. It had't started when we were around but I believe it is a discipline of the highland games.

  3. Oooh it looks like you had some brilliant sunshine.

Gorgeous pictures. The ones of the footbridge and castle are my favorite. I wish I had a moat around our house, lol.

    1. Who wouldn't want to have a moat sometimes?

  4. Bob, you are absolutely right, maybe that's why Scottish settlers must have felt right at home when landing in Newfoundland.

I believe they made up the story with Nessie. I am afraid it has moved on long ago...
