Sunday morning... and the weather looked better than its forecast had promised. So for the last time we went on the Lillooet loop, along Sea-to-Sky Highway a.k.a. Highway 99. In Squamish we gathered some necessary supplies at Starbucks for a coffee break at Brandywine Falls.
While we enjoyed the view, the sun came out and presented us a lovely rainbow. It was fairly nippy but the warm beverages did the trick, and kept us warm.Blue Jay!
We drove past Whistler towards Pemberton, and those clouds meant business... of the snowy kind. And yes, we have been snowed on, it's only April.
Posing at Duffey Lake. It's cold and windy!
We left the snow behind, and it got warmer again as we headed towards Lillooet, where we had a quick lunch at the D'Oro Coffee Lounge. Seton Lake
The road to Lillooet.
Along Fraser River.
Oh deer!
Rugged roads.
Oh, mountain sheep!
Beautiful vistas!
Spring has arrived!
The sky is weeping. (... and so are we...)
Our trip and our sojourn in Canada have come to their inevitable end.
Wow, things have cleared up a lot since I rode through those parts of Canada!
ReplyDeletewishing you safe travels!

I see a lot of love in those photos, trying to absorb as much of the place you called home, one last time.
ReplyDeleteI really look forward to reading your new blog. I think the older I get the more of my mother's German blood rises to the top and I almost feel like I know you. I've never been one to talk ancestors until the past few years, but as I look back I notice that some of the nicest people and the ones I got on with best were German ("real" ones, too!). I will happily read about your life back home as if I were there exploring, too. And no doubt wish I could be there.
Best of everything, hugs and cheers.
Martha, and I find myself in lots of the things you do, and how you tend to them, if it is plans or chores. And that is why I believe that you will always succeed in what you are doing. Count on your German heritage, it sometimes gets in the way but mostly it is quite advantageous ;-)
DeleteGood luck to you too, and who knows, like minded spirits like us might meet some time in real life.
Safe journey you two as you begin this new phase of your lives.
ReplyDeleteWe'll miss you. Sniff sniff, please pass the tissues.
Brandy, I am going to miss you too. (I so hoped to be able to tease Basil, or ride your little new addition to the bike family...). Sniff, I am fresh out of tissues.
DeleteOnly a couple more days until the adventure begins again. Like the others have said, you will be missed. Safe travels...
ReplyDeleteThanks Richard, bless you for the idea to see our move as an adventure first an foremost, and not just think of it as "We have to go back..."
Delete"Die Erinnerungen sind das kostbarste Souvenir !"
ReplyDeleteIch wünsche Euch ein glückliches und schönes Zuhause,
wo immer es auch sein möge.
Herzlichst RITA

ReplyDeleteAwwww, I am sure it is hard to leave but new adventures await, so much more to explore. All the best, love, peace and happiness!
ReplyDeleteHI Bianka, all the best for you, too. I guess you can somewhat relate to what we are getting into. Best of luck for you and Hendrik as well!
DeleteSonja,
ReplyDeleteI'm late to this party but have quickly felt at home with your and Roland's shared adventures; I've enjoyed it very much and look forward to staying close as you make your new home. There's a lot of me in where you're going too.
Safe and lovely travels!
Never too late to chime in, Coop. I hope you will follow us around as we re-discover our roots. You may find more than you bargained for ;-)
DeleteDear Bob, thank you and Yvonne for the wonderful memories. I learned to enjoy raw fish (actually it became my favourite food since, until I became vegan...) and felt very welcome when I arrived in BC. We share two great road trips and good times. I am pretty sure that one fine day we'll meet again, and until then everything is as close as a few keystrokes away.
ReplyDeleteHi Yvonne, thanks and best wishes for your lives in Canada. Until we meet again.
