Lots of errands to run!!!!
Roland: I am back in Canada for a week now, and Sonja keeps me REALLY busy with all kinds of errands, e.g. to deal with our bank, our real estate guy, and the notary, to have our Audi appraised for the lease return, to prepare the move that will happen next week and so on, and so forth...
Currently my most important job is to get rid of junk (fortunately we do not have a lot of THAT!). Some of our stuff can be donated, other sold on Craigslist and the likes, or given to friends and colleagues, and so I continue to clean out the closets and cupboards, while the wife is still working.
Moving boxes will be delivered tomorrow, so the weekend will be all about packing up!

Next week!! Tat is sooooo soon.
ReplyDeleteWe sure will miss you two, but luckily we have the internet so it won't seem so far.
I can't even imagine the challenges of moving such a distance. And in only a week.
ReplyDeleteAs Brandy says, you will be missed but fortunately, there's this whole Internet thing...
We don't have much stuff. As a matter of fact moving an apartment can easily done in a week's time, especially if you have done it before... Who knows, maybe your travels will send us our way one fine day.
DeleteHonestly, I can't imagine an adventure this large these days but know that you two are up for it and for the very best reasons. Luckily for us all you'll continue to share it.
ReplyDeletePlease keep us posted.
It is not that large really, flying to the moon is an undertaking but we are just moving stuff from one place to another. Ok, there is an ocean in between but that's what ships are for. I hope we see our goods on the other side... if not we are glad for insurance.
DeleteSuch a big move is never easy and certainly not cheap, but obviously we are not ready to settle yet...
ReplyDeleteI am glad we could meet again before we leave, and I am sure our paths will cross again. Say hi to Yvonne. I wish her all the best and speedy recovery after her surgery.
Well, I'm subscribed.
ReplyDeleteI knew losing weight could have consequences, but I didn't know a person could end up in Europe. I may have to rethink this whole getting healthier thing.
Good luck to you.

Thanks Keith, if I knew that weight loss and a big move to another continent was connected I would not have wanted to lose it. Oh no wait, I would have done it much sooner... I could have been around the world by now.
DeleteA week! You two don't mess around, do you? It takes me longer than that to work out where to go for dinner.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find the transition back into life at home as easy as it should be. Yes, I am sure you will. Now, I am riding through parts of Germany with 12 friends in ten days time..... you want some help with shifting boxes......?
Just kidding, but one day I will ride over and visit.
Ha, Gary - life's too short to mess around. We have moved a few time and quite a system in place, so we can actually do it very quickly.
DeleteHow about you send the guys our way, then I won't need a container... oh wait there is this thing called ocean in between...
Have a safe trip to St. Tropez. Hope to see you some time in Europe.
Hi Sonja and Roland.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of us returning to Germany after two y in Canada. When we returned, we used Canada Post to send parcels instead of a Container, was much cheaper.
However, we are quite shocked that you really return, because we thought you would stay for good. Be sure to move to a city or area that you really like, and not just for the job. Might save valuable time.
Have a safe trip and all the best, Marco
Hi Marco, we didn't think it could ever happen but a change of priorities in life has us going back for now. That doesn't mean forever, though. I agree that Canada Post is cheap but I doubt that they would also ship my motorcycles and furniture.
DeleteGood point to pick a city we would like, hence we will have to spend some time traveling around to find the right spot.
