A view from Brandenkopf on 'our' green valley.
The forest is black!
All along the Watchtower.
It's time for cake!
I get the fruit, he get's the leftovers...
Sweet butterfly.
Longing to scoot along this roads.
A classic example of regional architecture.
Another picturesque farmhouse.
And more of it.
Watermill.
A view towards 'our' village...
...where a stream flows through.
Taking a single file logging road to nowhere.
A Zen moment by the lake (at Glaswaldsee).
It's almost like being back in Canada...
... if it weren't for the castles and ruins around ;-)
Sunset calm.
So far we can't help comparing the Black Forest area to similar scenery of Eastern Canada, which makes transition and settling in so much easier.
Beautiful pictures. It looks so peaceful.
ReplyDeleteYou two are looking well, Germany must be agreeing with you.
Thanks, Brandy. The good food, the fair weather and the fantastic air help...
DeleteBeautiful photos, especially of the local architecture. The castles are something not found in North America. We consider something historic if it's a hundred years old. Are there any areas that would still be classifies as "wilderness"? I.e. completely undeveloped?
ReplyDeleteRichard, the downside of being surrounded by history is that no stone is left unturned. It is not very likely to find unchartered territory in Germany. Wild animals are not roaming free (never mind some deer and critters).
DeleteBeautiful. Totally.
ReplyDeleteThat same German "tidiness" is all over WI. Before I moved here I used to wonder how my area of IL could look so different. Every time I went north to visit WI I was amazed by the neatness of the farms and neighborhoods. Even old towns had nice tidy houses. After reading "Putting Down Roots" about the beginnings of WI I realized why the difference. It's about being German.
You've a good "eye" SonjaM.....great pics.
