Happy Birthday, Canada!

Wishing all Canadians a happy Canada Day!

  1. I celebrated Canada Day with a ride: Hope to Princeton and back. There was an unusual Police presence which far from putting a damper on things; kept the crazies in line. The driver behind stayed well back and was happy to cruise along at the limit. Most of the traffic were heading west, the other way. The weather was perfect. I did have to be careful in some of the old road twisties because of the late afternoon shadows but it was fun.

Heading back I was having flashes of the old days following a heavily loaded Semi as it crawled through some very tight, very steep sections of the remaining old road. There was a long line behind and I could have passed easily despite the double yellow, but you never know who is watching.

I waited very patiently for a short legal passing zone and V-Strom 1000 power was instantly gone. There is no way that the Honda CR-V behind me cold safely pass. The cars were stuck. I had the road all to myself most of the way to Hope before the long line caught up. It was Bliss.
